Kenya Morans power forward Ariel Okall has landed an ambassadorial role with Kenyan sports merchandise brand AS Sports Africa.

In a deal signed on Friday 7 December, the 32-year-old, who holds a record eight league championships across Africa, will now be tasked to “market the company and sell its idea to basketball lovers.”

AS Sports Africa Chief Executive Patrice Agunda, a former basketball and rugby player, described the partnership with Okal “humbling”, as he became the first professional basketballer to be associated with the brand.

"This is just testament to everything I've done and accomplished in my entire career," Okall, currently playing for Nairobi City Thunder, told Mozzart Sport.

As part of the deal, Okall will wear AS Sports Africa merchandise, as well as being involved in a long-term plan that will see the company produce their first basketball shoe.

Also agreed, will be equipment support for Okall’s team playing in the Kenya Women’s Basketball League - Th3 Swish.

“This is a game-changer for us,” Okall said of the added partnership with Nakuru-based Swish. “I tell my girls that they are lucky because now you have to possess quality; something some of us didn’t have.

“You in the current age need to have quality equipment and that also makes you look good when you are playing. When you look good you play well.”

Tracing its steps to January 2023, AS Sports Africa has played a prominent role in Kenyan sports.

The leading Sports Equipment Brand is the official kit partner for the oldest and most successful rugby clubs in the country - Kenya Harlequin - and has also provided official match balls for tournaments such as: Driftwood Sevens, Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games, the National Rugby Sevens circuit, and the Impala Floodlit Tournament.
